CHARITY NAVIGATOR AWARDS FOUR STAR RATING TO
WOMEN FOR WOMEN INTERNATIONAL

February 1, 2006, WASHINGTON, DC-Women for Women International was awarded a four-star rating by Charity Navigator, an independent organization that assesses and compares over 5000 charities. This is the second consecutive year that the non profit, which helps women survivors of war, has won the four-star distinction.

The "exceptional" rating demonstrates that the Washington, DC-based group outperforms most charities in America in its fiscally responsible stewardship of the public's $12 million in donations.

Less than 12% of the organizations rated by Charity Navigator have received at least two consecutive four-star evaluations. Charity Navigator "works to advance a more efficient and responsive philanthropic marketplace by evaluating the financial health of America's largest charities," according to its website.

"We recognize that donors have many choices when deciding how and where to spend their money. We do not take that support for granted and work diligently to ensure that we fulfill our promises to the donors who make it possible to serve thousands of women survivors of war," said Karen Sherman, Chief Operating Officer of Women for Women International, a non-profit that provides women in war-torn regions with direct aid, rights awareness education, job skills training and micro-credit loans.

Since its founding in 1993, Women for Women International has assisted more than 55,000 women survivors of war and distributed more than $24 million in direct aid and microcredit loans. Women for Women International currently operates in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, Kosovo, Nigeria, and Rwanda.
