Women for Women International held our first annual Women of the World Awards Gala on November 19, 2005 in Los Angeles, CA. The event honored the courage and resilience of women who have overcome the horrors of war to participate in the rebuilding of their families, communities and countries.
Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, our Global Ambassador, accepted the inaugural Women of the World Award, and actress and human rights activist, Julia Ormond, was awarded the first Champion of Peace Award. The night exceeded all of our expectations.
