Bringing the Voices of Women to the World
Women for Women International amplifies the voices of women survivors of war by giving them a chance to take their issues, recommendations, hopes and challenges directly to the public, media and policymakers. We take what the women tell us and what we have learned from our grassroots efforts to call attention to the window of opportunity for women’s participation presented by the early rehabilitation phase after conflict.
We produce publications, briefing papers and reports on topics such as women’s leadership and the struggle for gender equality in the countries where we work. Our reports include:
• Ending Violence Against Women in Eastern Congo: Preparing Men to Advocate for Women's Rights, Winter 2007.
• Beyond Darfur: War’s Impact on Sudanese Women and
Their Hopes for a Peaceful Future, Winter 2006.
• Our Constitution, Our Future: Enshrining Women's Rights in the Iraqi Constitution, June 2005.
• Windows of Opportunity: The Pursuit of Gender Equality in Post-War Iraq, January 2005.
• Women Taking A Lead: Progress Toward Empowerment and Gender Equity in Rwanda, September 2004.
Our bi-annual journal, Critical Half, offers a venue to reflect upon and analyze strategies and issues in the field. We invite other practitioners and scholars to join the discussion. The goal is stimulate discussion on the importance of women's participation in development and reconstruction, and the unique contributions women can make to these processes.
Letters from our field offices provide unique windows into the daily challenges and successes of women as they attempt to rebuild their lives and create peace.
Our newsletter, Outreach, shares stories of women’s growth and change as they work through our program and also features unique ways that sponsors show their support for women survivors of war.
