Sponsorship: Building A One-to-One Connection

Women for Women International builds bridges of mutual support and understanding while simultaneously helping women whose lives have been torn apart by war and conflict.

Our Sponsorship Program offers a one-to-one connection between sponsors in the United States and 55 other countries, and participants in the countries where we work. We match women with a sponsor who provides $27 in monthly financial support for one year. These funds allow women to obtain basic necessities for their families like food, clean water, medicine,
school books for their children or seed money for projects to earn an income. Sponsors and their “sisters” also exchange letters. For a woman who may have lost everything or who feels isolated, letters of support help renew her hope for a better future.

In the post-war period, women are often widows, refugees and the sole source of support for their families. They may not have funds for basic necessities like food, clean water, medicine, schoolbooks for their children, transportation to job training or income-generating projects. Building a global community of advocates for women survivors of war is key to recovering from war and rebuilding lives.
