UN Commission on the Status of Women Panel in New York City

Social Protections and Cash Transfers: Women’s Economic Empowerment in Conflict

This year’s UN Commission on the Status of Women was filled with fantastic panels and personalities that motivated and inspired us. We were proud to host our own discussion on the critical stipend that women receive as part of our year-long program and how it supports reduction of their poverty and vulnerability. We spoke with top experts from the The World Bank, the International Rescue Committee, the Women’s Refugee Commission, Amnesty International and more. We talked about experiences and lessons from integrating stipends or cash transfers into holistic programs to support marginalized women affected by conflict.

Another highlight was the chance for our Head of Policy and Advocacy, Carron Mann, to interview our Nigeria Country Director, Bukola Onyishi on Facebook Live. You can check that out here. And we spoke with Community Leader, Jeylan Mammadova, about her creative grassroots fundraisers for Women for Women International and how crucial our global network of support is to the women we serve. Catch that conversation here.
