Complementary Programs
We are continuously learning and striving to improve both the program offered to marginalized women, as well as activities that will complement and deepen the impact of our training.
Every woman has the power to transform her world. When women work together, we have the power to create a better world for all of us.
From war-torn towns to the halls of the United Nations, our global community of women is working to create a more just world—a world where every woman’s voice, role, and contribution are visible and valued.
Conflict and war deepen the injustices women face. A woman who survives violent conflict lives through brutality, sexual violence, extreme poverty, and the death of loved ones. Her home and community are left fractured in the wake.
When the conflict ends and the world’s attention moves on, she is left without basic resources, like food, water, and safety in a community that puts her needs and voice last.
At Women for Women International, we invest in women survivors of war and conflict. Through our Stronger Women, Stronger Nations program, a woman joins a class and breaks the isolation of war and conflict, while learning to save, build businesses, understand her rights, improve her health, and change societal rules.
But women can’t do it alone. We also have programs that engage with men, community structures, policy makers and graduates of our program to address discriminatory social norms and practices, enhance and create more opportunities for women, and provide the support women need to overcome the obstacles that stand in their way.
We know women pass on their knowledge to their neighbors and children, creating a ripple effect for generations. By investing in women, we create a better world for all of us—a world that’s more equal, peaceful, and prosperous.
That’s the power of women, for women.
We are continuously learning and striving to improve both the program offered to marginalized women, as well as activities that will complement and deepen the impact of our training.
We engage men to become allies and advocates for women’s power and gender equality. We collaborate with male community leaders and male household members to understand the benefits of supporting women’s progress and adopt more gender-equitable behaviors.
After completing our program, graduates continue their journey to empowerment as change makers, business owners, cooperative leaders, and advocates. Through graduate support, women are able to receive advanced training, access additional resources, improve their vocational skills, and connect to other graduates.
The women we serve are community leaders on the front lines. After graduating from Stronger Women, Stronger Nations Program, women use their skills and power to become Change Agents. Through local advocacy and leadership roles, they rebuild their communities and tackle persistent problems to create sustainable progress.
Our Adolescent Girls program is designed to address the unique needs of teenage girls aged 16-17 in conflict-affected regions. Early intervention is key to breaking the cycle of poverty and inequality, and adolescence is the ideal moment to provide this life-changing support.
