Women for Women International stands ready to work with the new U.S. Administration

As the United States formally recognizes its next President-elect, Women for Women International stands ready to work with the new US Administration to ensure that it centers the voices, experiences and power of women affected by conflict - within their own decision-making spaces, across the Capital and beyond.

This Administration transition will take place against a backdrop of global challenges that are disproportionately impacting women and girls - whether that’s the growing number of protracted conflicts, the concerning rollback on women’s rights, rising economic insecurity, or the rapidly worsening climate crisis. Women for Women International has been long advocating for the needs and priorities of marginalized women in conflict-affected contexts to be integrated across US Government policy and practice.

The U.S. has a long history of strong bipartisan support for humanitarian aid, the Women, Peace and Security agenda, democracy and human rights. In April 2024, the U.S. passed a $9 billion global humanitarian aid package to provide support to those affected by global crises, and across different Administrations the US has enacted legislation and developed Strategies to advance the implementation of the global Women, Peace and Security agenda worldwide. Women for Women knows how interconnected we are with women survivors of war around the world who are working toward peace and pushing for their rights. To address the global challenges facing these women, Women for Women hopes to see continued and increased funding, prioritization, and collaboration.

It is critical that the US continue to leverage its influence within the international community to advance women’s rights and support women affected by the world’s most challenging crises to rebuild their lives, families, and their communities.
